Lagos Police Rescue 12 Trafficked Teenage Girls in Idumota Prostitution Bust
Police in Lagos have rescued 12 teenage girls allegedly trafficked and forced into prostitution in apartments around Idumota on Lagos Island. Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai led the operation and arrested 28-year-old Princess Andrew for recruiting girls aged 13 to 15 under false pretences. A 16-year-old victim escaped on June 11 after being beaten and drugged. She told officers she had been forced to serve about 30 men over six months and suffered serious injuries. A Good Samaritan brought her to the Bode Thomas station in Surulere, prompting the raid. The girls, recruited from other states with promises of catering jobs, are now in police custody and receiving medical care. Investigations are ongoing and the main suspect will be prosecuted. Authorities urge anyone with information on similar trafficking rings to come forward to help protect vulnerable children.
