Verona Reject Permanent Move for Gift Orban After Loan Spell

Verona Reject Permanent Move for Gift Orban After Loan Spell

Gift Orban will head back to Hoffenheim at the end of the season after his loan at Hellas Verona. The Nigeria international found the net seven times and provided two assists in 28 Serie A outings for the Yellow and Blues. Despite this, Verona chose not to activate the purchase option, according to German outlet BILD. Orban remains under contract with Hoffenheim until 2029. He joined the Bundesliga side in January 2025 for €9 million from French club Lyon.

Do you think Verona missed a chance by not signing Gift Orban permanently after his seven goals and two assists?

What explanation did the club give for not making his loan move permanent?

Strange decision indeed; his goal return was impressive. Maybe Verona had other plans we're overlooking.

Seven goals and two assists over 28 matches isn't exactly stellar for a loaned striker in Serie A.

I get the concern, but Orban's numbers aren't bad for adapting to a new team and league.

Verona could have negotiated a lower fee or performance-based clauses instead of full purchase to secure Orban permanently.
