Troops Recover 147 Rustled Animals, Motorcycles in Sokoto

Troops of Sector 2 under Operation Fansan Yamma have recovered 147 livestock allegedly rustled by suspected terrorists in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Security agencies reportedly received intelligence that armed suspects were moving stolen animals through communities in the area. Soldiers deployed to Horo Birni village and blocked a route said to be frequently used by the group. The suspects allegedly fled through nearby bush paths after sighting the troops, abandoning 101 cattle, 44 sheep, two camels and three motorcycles. The Joint Task Force said the recovered animals were identified and returned to their owners.

Recovery is welcome, but it would be better if security efforts also stopped the suspects before animals are moved.
