How NITDA Is Building Cyber Resilience and Driving Nigeria’s Digital Revolution
NITDA is intensifying its push to make Nigeria a competitive global digital economy. Under DG Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the agency leads national cybersecurity efforts and drives digital literacy through its National Digital Literacy Framework and the Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan 2.0. At the GITEX Africa Summit, the DG warned that treating cybersecurity as a routine IT problem is over. NITDA aims to turn every citizen into a “human firewall” against AI-driven threats. It has launched a National Digital Literacy Programme targeting 95% digital literacy by 2030 and the “3 Million Tech Talent” initiative to build expertise in cybersecurity, data science, and AI. The agency has established over 100 IT centres nationwide to bridge the digital divide. It partners with bodies in the petroleum, creative, and public sectors to secure critical infrastructure and nurture the Orange Economy. Recent strategic engagements with policy institutes highlight the role of digital innovation in job creation and economic diversification. Through hackathons, innovation challenges, and mentorship schemes, NITDA is laying the groundwork for a sustainable digital ecosystem in Nigeria. Deep cooperation across all sectors is key to harnessing technology for national development.
