Troops Repel Coordinated ISWAP Attack on Borno Military Base, Recover RPGs and Rifles

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled a coordinated ISWAP attack on the Forward Operating Base in Mandaragirau, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. The military said the insurgents attacked from two directions at about 2am on Saturday. Troops of the 162 Amphibious Battalion reportedly detected the fighters through surveillance systems and intercepted them before they reached the base. A second group allegedly tried to infiltrate the facility but was forced to withdraw after a firefight. During a follow-up operation, troops recovered AK-47 rifles, magazines, an RPG launcher, RPG bombs, chargers, a camcorder and other combat items. The Army said several attackers were killed, while no military personnel were lost. The incident highlights the continued threat posed by ISWAP in Borno despite ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
