Imo North Senatorial Hopeful Sues NDC, INEC Over Alleged ₦25m Ticket Substitution

Imo North Senatorial Hopeful Sues NDC, INEC Over Alleged ₦25m Ticket Substitution

A hopeful for the Imo North senatorial seat has filed suit against the Nigeria Democratic Congress and INEC. He claims he paid ₦20m for party support and ₦5m for a nomination form. He says his name was replaced with another aspirant despite being chosen by party leaders. He is seeking declarations to confirm him as the NDC candidate and to bar the party and INEC from fielding anyone else in the 2027 election. The suit includes receipts and nomination forms as evidence. In a separate case, a Niger Delta activist and NDC House of Representatives aspirant is also suing for N5bn over alleged disregard of primary election results. He accuses party leaders of prioritizing the highest bidder over democratic choice. The NDC’s Imo State spokesperson said he is awaiting approval to comment on both cases.

Do you mean how this challenge could affect who gets nominated in other states too?

He paid ₦20m plus ₦5m for nomination, yet his name was switched. That hints at deeper issues in candidate selection.

I'm not convinced a lawsuit over money will fix the system; real reforms need collective pressure, not lone legal battles.

Record all payment receipts and follow up formally with party offices to ensure your candidacy isn't swapped without explanation.
