Protecting the Southern Mandate: Why We Must Stand with Tinubu Until 2031
I’m watching Nigeria’s political chess game unfold, and it’s clear President Tinubu is playing by the rules the North perfected for decades. Back in 2015, they used the “Change” slogan to humiliate President Jonathan and deliver eight years of hardship. Today, those same voices of “persecution” are the very architects of that collapse. During Buhari’s two terms, the North stood firmly behind their leader despite criticism. They understood that power is about regional equity, not just performance. The South must learn from this example. We cannot allow our presidency to be cut short by those who exploited Jonathan’s era. Tinubu has turned the tables on old kingmakers. His partnership with Wike has effectively neutralized figures like El-Rufai and Kwankwaso. With the Federal Capital Territory secured and key political machinery under control, the Southern Mandate is safe. We must stay united and defend this presidency until 2031.
