World Cup 2026 Fans May Face $15,000 US Visa Bond

World Cup 2026 Fans May Face $15,000 US Visa Bond — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Fans from Senegal, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Cape Verde and Tunisia could be asked to deposit up to $15,000 just to obtain a US visa for the 2026 World Cup. The new policy, introduced earlier this year, covers standard tourist and business visa applicants. Under the rule, bonds range from $5,000 to $15,000 per person and are refundable only if travellers leave the country within the visa terms. Families travelling together would each need to post a separate bond, significantly increasing overall costs. There is no clear exemption for players, coaches or official delegations. FIFA is reportedly working behind the scenes to secure waivers, but US authorities say each application will be assessed on its own merits. Many supporters worry that the hefty bonds could price them out of attending the tournament, and calls for a formal exemption process are growing louder.

It seems odd that a universal visa policy change singles out five African nations for hefty bonds.

Fans should explore group applications or early submissions to spread out the cost of the bond fee.
