NDLEA Dismantles Nigeria’s Largest Meth Lab, Seizes ₦480bn of Drugs
The NDLEA has dismantled what it describes as the largest clandestine methamphetamine production facility ever found in Nigeria. In a well-coordinated operation, elite operatives arrested ten suspects, including the cartel leader and three Mexican technical experts, during simultaneous raids in Ogun and Lagos States. Officials recovered over 2.4 tonnes of methamphetamine valued at more than ₦480 billion. The hidden laboratory was uncovered on a remote farm in Ijebu-Ode, while the kingpin’s Lekki residence yielded passports, phones and vehicles linked to the illicit network. NDLEA leadership warns that drug traffickers are increasingly importing foreign specialists to run industrial-scale drug factories in rural communities. Nigerians are urged to report any suspicious activity or unusual chemical odours as the agency intensifies its crackdown on narcotics syndicates.
