After 22 Days in Captivity: UI Law Student and Seven Others Freed
Miss Abolarin Tomisin, a 300-level law student at the University of Ibadan, and seven other conference participants have regained their freedom after 22 days in captivity. They were abducted on June 14 along the Imo-Anambra boundary while returning from a national conference in Okigwe, Imo State. The Students Union President confirmed their release on July 6, saying the victims are now undergoing post-release procedures. Officials have assured that Miss Tomisin will safely return to campus soon. The union praised security agencies, university management, the Scripture Union leadership and all who worked for the students’ release. The community’s prayers and support were also acknowledged. A video of the freed group shows emotional scenes of worship and thanksgiving as they celebrated their rescue. The union prayed for the healing and full restoration of everyone affected by the ordeal.
