FirstPower and LECAN Partner to Boost Electrical Safety and Customer Connections
The Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN) South East Zone met with FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company in Awka. They agreed to work closely on safer electrical installations, regulatory compliance, and faster customer connections. LECAN’s coordinator praised recent reforms in the franchise area. He stressed the need for certified inspections and stronger monitoring to prevent quack installations and impersonation. FirstPower’s Managing Director urged prompt preliminary inspections by contractors before submitting customer documents. He warned against using middlemen for metering to avoid fraud and delays. Additional meter vendors have been engaged to speed up supply and installations. The meeting brought together key managers from FirstPower and LECAN. It forms part of ongoing stakeholder engagements to improve electricity service delivery in Anambra State.
