Cole Palmer Jokes About Morgan Rogers Using Their Cold Celebration at Chelsea

Cole Palmer has joked that Morgan Rogers could face “bailiffs” if he uses their shared cold celebration after joining Chelsea. Palmer said he trademarked the gesture in 2025, but added that he and Rogers would likely perform it together at Stamford Bridge. The pair have been close since their time in Manchester City’s academy. Although Palmer is now strongly associated with the celebration, he first used it after seeing Rogers perform it for Middlesbrough in 2023. Rogers has previously insisted that he created the gesture first. Rogers has reportedly joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in a club-record £117 million deal and is expected to link up with Xabi Alonso’s squad after the 2026 World Cup break.

Would Palmer and Rogers doing the cold celebration together make it more iconic, or does the joke work better when one player owns it?

Would sharing it not make the celebration feel less distinctive?

The bailiffs line is clearly banter, but it shows how quickly a simple goal celebration can become part of a player's identity.

Trademark or not, celebrations rarely belong to one person in the way fans make out. The shared version could be more memorable.

If Rogers joins Chelsea, keeping the celebration light and doing it together would avoid unnecessary debate while giving supporters a fun moment.
