NDLEA Cracks Down on South-West Synthetic Drug Labs, Seizes Multi-Billion-Naira Cache

NDLEA Cracks Down on South-West Synthetic Drug Labs, Seizes Multi-Billion-Naira Cache

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency uncovered a multi-billion-naira stockpile of illicit chemicals and production equipment in a major South-West raid. The seized materials could have produced millions of doses of synthetic narcotics for distribution nationwide and beyond. This breakthrough follows the dismantling of a forest-based methamphetamine laboratory in Ijebu, Ogun State, just four weeks earlier. The close timing suggests drug syndicates are positioning the South-West as a key hub for synthetic drug manufacturing. NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) warned that traffickers “thought hiding in dense forests would shield them from the long arm of the law. They were wrong.” He praised Oyo State officers and local informants for their vigilance. Marwa stressed that Nigeria will never be a safe haven for drug cartels. He vowed to pursue criminal networks “in the cities and in the forests” until their infrastructure of death is dismantled.
