Kaduna Police Probe Officers Accused of Extorting Motorists in Viral Video
The Kaduna State Police Command has ordered an investigation into officers seen in a viral video allegedly extorting motorists and cyclists during a stop-and-search operation. Police spokesperson Mansir Hassan said Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad has directed that the officers be identified and questioned. The command said any officer found guilty will face disciplinary and possible legal action. The police noted that routine roadblocks have been curtailed unless there is credible intelligence about criminals, weapons or other prohibited items. It said the route shown in the video, near Millennium City, had previously been linked to criminal activity and the recovery of 20 AK-47 rifles. The command stressed that security operations must not be used for extortion, harassment or other misconduct, and urged residents to continue reporting unprofessional conduct by officers.
