Anambra Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers Linked to ₦15m Ukwulu Ransom Case
Anambra police say they have arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate allegedly linked to several abductions in Anambra and neighbouring states. The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation by the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu on July 27, 2026. Police said one suspect allegedly named Umar Ali, also known as Barjini, as the gang’s leader and accused him of supplying weapons for kidnapping and armed robbery operations. Investigators linked the suspects to the June 26 abduction of a victim from Divine Heritage Lodge in Ukwulu, Dunukofia LGA. The victim was reportedly held for four days before being released after the family allegedly paid ₦15 million ransom. Police said two other suspected gang members remain at large, while investigations and efforts to arrest them continue.
