Do Nigerian Passport Holders Need a Transit Visa for a Layover in Johannesburg?
Good evening, everyone. I will be travelling on official duty to Eswatini, with a six-hour layover at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. As a Nigerian passport holder, do I need a South African transit visa if I remain in the international transit area? Information from the visa application centre indicates that transit passengers at O.R. Tambo may be exempt, although biometric capture may still apply. Has anyone recently travelled from Nigeria through Johannesburg to Eswatini or another neighbouring country? Please share whether you faced immigration or boarding issues, and what the visa process and processing time were if a transit visa was required.
