Boko Haram Plans Quranic 'Graduation' for Over 100 Kidnapped Women and Children
Families of more than 100 women and children kidnapped from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State say Boko Haram is preparing a Quranic 'graduation' ceremony for its captives. Insurgents claim they have spent months teaching Islamic studies, etiquette and Quran memorisation during the victims’ captivity. Relatives learned of the planned graduation during recent phone calls. Fighters warned that all costs incurred for the ceremony will be added to future ransom demands when negotiations begin. The development follows a February raid in which over 200 residents were killed and 176 women and children were abducted. Community leaders and youth groups are calling on the government to act swiftly and secure the safe release of the captives.
