Anambra FA to Hold Memorial Match for Ifeanyi Ubah in Nnewi
The Anambra State Football Association will hold a novelty match on 1 August 2026 to mark the second memorial of former chairman, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. The match is scheduled for the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium on Ozubulu Road in Nnewi. Ubah led the association from 2016 to 2020 and was associated with initiatives aimed at developing grassroots football in Anambra, including the “One Family, One Footballer” project. During his football administration, FC Ifeanyi Ubah won the 2016 Federation Cup after beating Nasarawa United on penalties. The victory secured the club a place in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup. The businessman and football administrator died on 27 July 2024. The memorial match is part of activities planned by the current Anambra FA board to honour his contribution to football in the state.
