Oba Ewuare II Suspends Palace Queen and Chiefs Over Peller’s Unauthorized Entry

Oba Ewuare II Suspends Palace Queen and Chiefs Over Peller’s Unauthorized Entry

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has sanctioned a palace queen, several chiefs, and staff for allowing social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja (Peller) into the palace without permission. The Benin Traditional Council cited a breach of protocol and desecration of the sacred precincts on March 6, 2026. A palace attendant, Mr. Omuemu, was detained by the Nigeria Police Force and will face charges for breaching the peace and abetting unauthorized entry. A implicated chief has been suspended indefinitely, while the palace queen now faces severe disciplinary proceedings that could lead to her removal. The council invited Peller to appear before its investigative committee, but he failed to honor the request. He is required to submit an unreserved written apology or risk legal action for the embarrassment and distress caused within the palace grounds.
