Army Foils Attempted Oil Theft, Arrests 15 at Dangote Refinery

Army Foils Attempted Oil Theft, Arrests 15 at Dangote Refinery

Troops from Army Headquarters 9 Brigade and 65 Battalion arrested fifteen suspects after credible intelligence led them to a crude oil discharge point on a vessel supplying Dangote Refinery near Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos State. The suspects were caught in the early hours of Friday as they tried to connect pipes to divert crude oil intended for PMS and AGO production. Authorities recovered a Mack tanker truck, a Lexus RX 350, a Ford Ranger pickup, a pumping machine, a Yamaha speedboat engine and multiple hose pipes. All suspects and exhibits are now in the custody of 65 Battalion as investigations continue. The operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure and curbing crude oil theft.
