DSS, Forest Guards Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims, Kill Three Bandits in Kwara
A joint security operation in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State has rescued nine people abducted by suspected bandits. Three suspects were reportedly killed during a gun battle, while others escaped into the forest. The operation involved DSS operatives, Kwara Forest Guards, local hunters and vigilantes. It was carried out around Obbo Aiyegunle, Ejiu Ora and Osi, near the borders with Ekiti and Niger states, following intelligence reports. Officials said the victims included farmers taken from their farmlands and people earlier abducted in Ekiti State. One victim reportedly suffered machete injuries while resisting abduction and is receiving treatment. A Forest Guards member said the team needs more equipment, including body armour, night-vision goggles, radios and ammunition, to confront armed kidnapping gangs in the area.
