One Dead as Ogun Orders Probe Into Ajuwon Building Collapse
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has ordered a full technical investigation into the collapse of a two-storey building on Baale Road, Ajuwon, in Ifo Local Government Area. One person died after the building collapsed on Monday afternoon following heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Some occupants escaped after noticing signs of structural distress, while one person sustained minor injuries. Emergency workers recovered the victim during a controlled excavation after blood traces and footprints were seen beneath the rubble. The state says structural, geotechnical and forensic tests will determine whether foundation failure, unstable soil, poor construction, substandard materials or other factors caused the collapse. Nearby buildings will also be assessed. The governor said anyone found to have breached approved building plans or construction standards would face prosecution. Residents and developers were urged to obtain approvals and comply with building regulations.
