Nigerian Scholar Simi Olusola-Ajayi to Give Student Keynote at Carnegie Mellon 2026 Commencement

Nigerian Scholar Simi Olusola-Ajayi to Give Student Keynote at Carnegie Mellon 2026 Commencement

Simi Olusola-Ajayi, a master’s candidate in Human-Computer Interaction, has been chosen as the student speaker for Carnegie Mellon University’s 2026 graduation. She will share the stage with honorary doctorate recipients such as Jensen Huang and Jamie deRoy. A Pennsylvania State University psychology graduate, Simi spent seven years working as a strategist before returning to school. Her decision to apply came after comforting a friend, who encouraged her to seize the opportunity. Her address will explore embracing uncertainty and pursuing responsible innovation. She hopes her story and insights on keeping the “why” in focus will resonate with all graduates. The ceremony takes place on May 10, 2026 at Carnegie Mellon’s main campus, with attendees required to be seated by 9:15am to watch the student procession.
