EFCC Raids Abuja Internet Fraud Academy, Arrests 31 Suspects
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission carried out a sting operation at an alleged internet fraud training centre in Becki Estate, Karu, Abuja, leading to the arrest of 31 suspects. Officials recovered 18 laptops and various gadgets during the raid, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said in a statement. Investigators learned that the facility lured interns from Benue State with promises of legitimate jobs before confiscating their phones, restricting their movements and subjecting them to fraud tutorials and corporal punishment. The suspects, including two alleged kingpins and their trainees, will be charged to court once investigations are complete.
