Olatoun Gabi-Williams at 60: Celebrating a Champion of Nigerian Literature and Literacy

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW Global) congratulates Mrs. Olatoun Gabi-Williams on her 60th birthday. She has spent decades championing literary advocacy, child education, and cultural promotion in Nigeria and beyond. Wole Adedoyin, the Society’s President, praised her as “a literary visionary, a passionate advocate for children’s literacy, and a cultural ambassador.” Through television, radio, and public events, Olatoun Gabi-Williams has consistently highlighted the value of books and reading. She has appeared on Channels TV’s Sunrise, NTA 2 Channel 5’s AM Express, Smooth Radio’s Smooth Review, and other respected platforms. Her voice has shaped public discourse on literature, education, and national development. In 2014, she hosted the inaugural Nigerian Cultural Trade Show in Lagos, organized by the Nigerian-German Business Association and the Goethe-Institut. She also represented Nigeria at the 2018 Frankfurt Book Fair, moderating panels and interviewing authors under the Lettres D’Afrique programme.
