Atiku, Amaechi & Hayatu-Deen Face Off as ADC Presidential Primary Gets Underway
The ADC has already cleared presidential hopefuls Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen ahead of its primary today. The party also produced governorship candidates in more than ten states. Results from recent governorship primaries include Abubakar Malami in Kebbi, Halliru Dauda Jika in Bauchi, Umar Suleiman Ummarana in Adamawa and Barrister Kassim Gana Gaidam in Yobe. Zakari Mohammed, Dr Effiong Nyong, Gabriel Pidomson and Amb. Dare Bejide also clinched their party tickets across Kwara, Cross River, Rivers and Ekiti. Consensus talks among the three presidential aspirants collapsed over the weekend. Delegates will now decide the winner, who will lead the ADC into the January 2027 election against the APC and other parties. A breakaway faction loyal to Dumebi Kachikwu has also held its own convention. They dissolved the previous national working committee and named Kachikwu as their sole presidential candidate.
