Brooklyn Man Gets Five-Year Term for Corpse Assault on NYC Subway
On June 17, a New York court sentenced 44-year-old Felix Rojas to five years in prison. He was convicted of sexually assaulting and robbing an unconscious man on an R train near Whitehall Street last April. Prosecutors say the victim had lost consciousness and remained motionless on a subway bench for hours. Rojas approached him, assaulted him for more than 30 minutes and took his belongings. Three weeks after the attack, Rojas surrendered after recognizing himself in surveillance footage. He has taken a plea deal that includes 15 years of supervised release. An ICE spokesperson confirmed that Rojas is a Mexican national and remains in federal custody.
