Plateau Attack: Four Muslims Killed and Ten Missing as Violence Cuts Across Faith Lines

The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Plateau State chapter, has confirmed that four Muslims were killed and ten others remain missing after a deadly attack on Anguwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area. Victims’ bodies were identified at the teaching hospital, while families have lost contact with those missing. Two survivors are receiving treatment, and JNI is working closely with families. An elder, Kabir Yusuf, recalled how his brother Abubakar was attacked while returning from Fobur market with tomatoes. No group has claimed responsibility, and it is unclear if the missing were killed by the assailants or in retaliation attacks. Plateau has experienced similar violence linked to banditry, land disputes, and ethnic and religious tensions. President Bola Tinubu and the Christian Association of Nigeria have condemned the killings and urged security agencies to pursue the perpetrators and ensure community safety.
