Tinubu Seeks Airbus Aircraft Maintenance Hub to Boost Security and Aviation Growth
President Bola Tinubu has welcomed Airbus’s proposal to establish maintenance and hangar facilities in Nigeria. He spoke during a meeting with Airbus leaders at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda. Tinubu stressed Nigeria’s urgent need for modern helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft to support security, logistics, and national development. He urged the accelerated delivery of three Apache attack helicopters ordered to confront terrorist threats. The talks covered defence aviation cooperation, aircraft leasing and financing models, and plans for a local aviation leasing company. Airbus praised Nigeria’s economic reforms and outlined a “360-degree engagement” for commercial aviation, military support, human capital development, sustainability, and satellite collaboration.
