Funso Doherty Quits ADC for NDC Ahead of 2027 Lagos Governorship Race
Former ADC governorship hopeful in Lagos, Funso Doherty, has officially left the African Democratic Congress for the Nigeria Democratic Congress. He cited deep divisions among ADC leaders and said the party can no longer serve as a united opposition platform. After careful reflection and consultation, Doherty announced on Thursday that he and other defectors will pursue their goals under the NDC banner. This marks Doherty’s second departure from the ADC. He had briefly joined the PDP after the 2023 election before returning when opposition figures rallied behind ADC. Now, believing the NDC offers a stronger path to good governance, he invites supporters to join his new journey.
