USM Oujda Terminate Issa Ndiaye’s Contract After AFCON 2025 Title Ruling

USM Oujda Terminate Issa Ndiaye’s Contract After AFCON 2025 Title Ruling — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Moroccan club USM Oujda have ended their contract with Senegalese midfielder Issa Ndiaye following his public reaction to CAF’s decision stripping Senegal of the AFCON 2025 title and awarding it to Morocco. The Appeal Board annulled Senegal’s win after players walked off in protest of a late penalty. CAF ruled this conduct breached competition regulations under Article 82, resulting in a 3-0 forfeit under Article 84. Reports say Ndiaye mocked the ruling on social media, prompting USM Oujda management to label his comments disrespectful and inconsistent with the club’s values.

How do you think terminating Ndiaye's contract after his AFCON reaction affects player freedom of expression in football?

Are we overlooking the club's right to enforce conduct clauses over broader free speech concerns?

This move feels heavy-handed given the strip of Senegal's title was already controversial and players walked off unfairly punished.

I understand clubs protect their image, but e no mean Ndiaye deserved to lose his contract just like that.

Clubs should add clear social media guidelines in contracts so players know the consequences before speaking on sensitive rulings.
