Macron Slams Plan to Militarily Liberate the Strait of Hormuz as "Unrealistic"

French President Emmanuel Macron said during his visit to South Korea that a military operation to free the Strait of Hormuz would be unrealistic. He warned it would take too long and expose any force to threats from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, including ballistic missiles and coastal defences. Macron stressed that a lasting solution must involve Iran through a ceasefire and fresh negotiations. He also criticised the inconsistent messaging from US President Donald Trump, urging more serious and steady diplomacy. According to Macron, calls for forceful intervention amount to grandstanding and will not persuade Iran to open the strait without meaningful dialogue.
