Military Intercepts 235kg of Cannabis on Lokoja–Abuja Highway, Arrests Suspect
Troops from the Quick Reaction Group in Abaji stopped a white Toyota Avalon at around 7:50 p.m. on June 22 during a routine checkpoint. The vehicle, travelling from Okitipupa in Ondo State to Abuja, was searched and found to contain 273 compressed packets of suspected cannabis sativa weighing about 235kg. The driver, 30-year-old Ayodeji John, was taken into custody on the spot. Initial investigations link him to an organized drug-trafficking ring. Both the suspect and the seized drugs were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency the following day for prosecution. Military officials praised the operation as evidence of their vigilance and professionalism in curbing illicit drug movement. No casualties or security breaches were reported during the interception.
