Edo Govt Rescues Distressed US Deportee, Reunites Him with Family

Peter Guobadia, a 53-year-old deportee from the United States, was found wandering along Airport Road in Benin City in severe mental distress. He was placed in protective custody and referred to the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Uselu, for urgent medical and psychiatric care. The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development highlighted the state’s resolve to protect vulnerable persons. The ministry is partnering with mental health institutions, civil society groups and development partners to strengthen rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration services. Officers traced Mr Guobadia’s relatives through sustained outreach efforts and arranged his safe reunion with family. Post-rehabilitation monitoring will ensure he continues to receive essential welfare and support services.
