Anambra Police Commissioner Urges Youths to Reject Drugs, Crime Ahead of SWAN Sports Week

Anambra Commissioner of Police Nnanna-Oji Ama has urged young people to stay away from drug abuse and crime, and to channel their energy into productive activities such as sports. He made the call while receiving leaders of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Anambra chapter, ahead of its 2026 Sports Week. The event, themed “Sports for Peace and Economic Empowerment,” will hold on August 20 and 21 at Cosmilla Hotels Sports Arena. Ama said sports promotes mental and physical fitness and can help build stronger bonds among youths. He also called for public and media cooperation in efforts to keep Anambra safe, while confirming that the police team will participate in the games. The competition will feature five-a-side football, table tennis, draught and ludo, with the Anambra State Football Association and Awka All Stars Football Club among the participating teams.
