After Jos Massacre, PIDAN Warns ‘Our Patience Is Over’
By Kingsley Chukwuka The Plateau Initiative for Development and Advancement of the Natives (PIDAN) has issued a stern ultimatum after the massacre in Angwan Rukuba. At least 27 people were killed and many more wounded in the suspected militia attack on Jos North on March 29, 2026. In a statement signed by President Danjuma Nanpon Sheni and Secretary General Danjuma Dickson Auta, PIDAN condemned the violence as a flagrant breach of peace. They warned that passive mourning has ended and that residents may be forced to defend themselves if security forces do not act. While acknowledging Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s visit to grieving families, the group said symbolic gestures fall short. PIDAN demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those behind the attack to avoid a cycle of revenge. As the community lays its dead to rest, Jos remains tense. PIDAN offered condolences to the bereaved but stressed that the government’s window for decisive action is closing.
