Lagos Introduces Digital Permit Platform to Fast-Track Approvals and Strengthen Tax Compliance
The Lagos State Government has urged professionals in the built environment to adopt the new Electronic Physical Planning Permit Processing System (E-PPPS) and declare their tax status honestly. At a one-day workshop in Alausa, Commissioner Dr Oluyinka Olumide explained that the digital platform will simplify applications, cut processing times and boost transparency. He stressed that tax compliance is now a key requirement for permit approval. Head of Service Olabode Agoro called E-PPPS a transformative tool that eliminates bureaucratic delays. He encouraged staff and users to develop digital skills and maintain professional standards throughout the process. Traditional rulers and industry bodies welcomed the initiative but suggested running the electronic system alongside the manual process for a short transition. Attendees included surveyors, architects, engineers, builders and town planners.
