Ondo NSCDC Cracks Down on Telecom Mast Vandalism, Arrests 25-Year-Old Suspect — 1 of 3
1 / 3

The NSCDC Ondo State Command has arrested a 25-year-old man accused of vandalising an MRM telecommunications mast in Iju Community, Akure North LGA. Following a complaint by the community youth leader on June 24, intelligence operatives and local volunteers kept the facility under covert surveillance. The suspect was caught on June 25 while his accomplices escaped. Investigators found that the vandals had loosened foundation bolts and removed key components. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to multiple visits and admitted involvement in a residential robbery opposite the mast. Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye commended the community’s cooperation and urged residents across the state to report organised syndicates targeting critical assets. The suspect will be charged to court after investigations conclude.
