Memories of Biafran Atrocities Endure – Ejiofor Calls Ndi Igbo to Reflect and Unite
Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor says the memories of killings during the Nigerian Civil War remain etched in every Igbo soul. Ahead of Biafra Heroes Memorial Day on May 30, he urged Ndi Igbo to honour the fallen through reflection, unity and justice. He described the commemoration as a sacred season for introspection and reconciliation. The conflict of 1967–1970 claimed millions of lives through warfare, starvation and organised massacres. Ejiofor warned against historical revisionism and called for honest examination of past narratives. Beyond speeches and ceremonies, he said true tribute lies in rebuilding solidarity, communal responsibility and shared purpose. As Memorial Day nears, he appealed to all Igbo sons and daughters to preserve history with integrity and confront the future with courage.
