Timi Frank Urges African Leaders to Dump France, Strengthen US Alliance

Timi Frank Urges African Leaders to Dump France, Strengthen US Alliance

Comrade Timi Frank warns that decades of French influence have left African nations with little to show for their resources. He points to political upheavals in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger as evidence of France’s exploitative ties. Frank argues that Africa should build stronger partnerships with the United States in the areas of security, election integrity and trade. He proposes an Africa–US summit as a more beneficial forum than France–Africa gatherings. He also calls on African leaders to renegotiate terms with Washington to ensure deals deliver real benefits to citizens. Frank labels France’s long-standing role in Francophone Africa as “modern slavery” and cites improvements in countries that have distanced themselves from Paris.
