Police in Bauchi have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly impersonating an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS). The suspect was intercepted by the Command's Violent Crimes Response Unit during a routine patrol in the Bayan Gari area of Bauchi metropolis on July 27. He allegedly claimed to be attached to the DSS Bauchi State Command. Police said preliminary investigations found that he was not a DSS operative. He is being interrogated and will be charged to court after investigations are completed. The Commissioner of Police urged residents to request proper identification from anyone claiming to be a security operative.

An arrest is not the same as proof, so it is fair to wait for the investigation before drawing final conclusions.
