IDF Claims Control of 60% of Gaza, Says Hamas Can No Longer Invade
A senior Israeli officer says the IDF now holds more than 60% of the Gaza Strip, surpassing the territory allowed under the October 2025 ceasefire agreement with Hamas. The Central Command chief described a fortified security zone along the Gaza border and declared that a repeat of a large-scale Hamas invasion is “no longer possible.” He cautioned, however, that Hamas still controls its areas in Gaza, retains some operational capabilities, and maintains its vision to destroy Israel. At the start of the truce, Israel held about 53% of the territory, with Hamas in control of the remainder where nearly two million Palestinians live.
