Awka Court Remands Man for Allegedly Selling Two Boys for ₦1.6 Million

Awka Court Remands Man for Allegedly Selling Two Boys for ₦1.6 Million

An Anambra State court in Awka has remanded 42-year-old Sunday Nome at the Awka Correctional Centre on charges of conspiracy, child stealing and illegal dealing in children. He pleaded not guilty to a six-count indictment. Prosecutors told the court that Nome and an accomplice still at large allegedly forcefully took a two-year-old boy from his mother and a four-year-old boy from his father in Nkpor, Idemili North. They say he sold the younger child for ₦1.6 million and was preparing to sell the other before his arrest. The hearing has been adjourned until July 29.
