Klopp Warns Germany After Ecuador Shock: 'Wrong Methods Cost Us'

Klopp Warns Germany After Ecuador Shock: 'Wrong Methods Cost Us' — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Jurgen Klopp has criticised Germany’s tactics after their stunning 2-1 World Cup defeat to Ecuador. Despite taking an early lead through Leroy Sane, Germany were pegged back by Nilson Angulo and then beaten by Gonzalo Plata’s late header. Speaking as a TV analyst, Klopp said his former side lacked depth and played the wrong kind of football against a highly aggressive opponent. He warned that without a major shift in mentality, Germany risk an early exit in the knockout rounds. With the round of 32 clash looming in Boston, Klopp urged Julian Nagelsmann’s team to address defensive frailties and rediscover their intensity if they hope to keep their title bid alive.
