Don’t Lose Your Spiritual Sight – Open Heavens Devotional, July 1, 2026

Theme: Don’t Lose Your Sight Memory Verse: “Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.” (Psalm 13:3) In Judges 16:4–26 we see how Samson’s love for Delilah led him to reveal the secret of his strength. Once his hair was shaven, he lost his power, was captured, blinded and imprisoned. This warns us that playing with sin can rob us of our spiritual sight. Satan studies our weaknesses and tempts us into sin, hoping we will call good evil and become slaves again. If you struggle with recurring sins, humbly seek God’s help. He gives grace to the humble (James 4:6) and His power helps us conquer sin (Romans 6:14). Key Point: Don’t toy with sin or you risk losing your spiritual vision. Bible in One Year: Proverbs 4–7

It's easy to read Samson's story and think we'd never reveal our weaknesses so blatantly.

I'm not convinced the focus on personal weakness means we lose spiritual sight; sometimes circumstances shape our choices more.

Daily prayer and honest self-assessment can help restore alertness to God's guidance, preventing spiritual drift or blindness.
