Gunbattle in Ogun: Soldier, Four Hostages and Kidnapper Killed During Rescue of Chinese Workers

A joint security team from the Nigerian Army and police responded to a distress call at a dredging site in Magbon Village, Ogun State. They were ambushed by suspected kidnappers who had taken Chinese expatriate workers hostage. In the ensuing gunfight, one soldier, four hostages and one kidnapper lost their lives. Another soldier and two police officers were wounded and are receiving medical care. Security forces have intensified patrols along nearby forests and river routes. The army reiterated its commitment to working with other agencies to restore safety in the area.
