Northern Coalition Accuses FG of Sidestepping North-West in ₦3.9tn Road Approval

The Coalition of Northern Groups has condemned the Federal Government for excluding all seven North-West states from the recent approval of 27 federal road projects worth over ₦3.9 trillion. It called the omission a betrayal of the region’s support for President Tinubu in the 2023 election. In a statement, the coalition argued this exclusion cannot be dismissed as an administrative oversight but reflects a growing pattern of neglect against key highways like the Kano–Kaduna–Abuja Expressway. It warned that commuters continue to face security challenges, accidents, and economic losses while other regions receive new multi-billion naira projects. The group held President Tinubu and senior North-West office holders responsible for the “complete exclusion” and demanded an immediate review of approved projects. It urged accelerated completion of existing expressways and inclusion of strategic roads in Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.

How do you all think this deliberate exclusion of North-West states will affect political unity in the region?

I dey feel you—leaving out the North-West fit weaken trust and slow down efforts to bring everybody together.

It's striking that states which backed the president now see no investment while other regions get approval for major road projects.

I'm not convinced this is a betrayal; it might reflect project readiness rather than regional bias.

Local officials should compile and present detailed proposals for North-West road projects to secure their share of federal funding.
