Motorists Alert: Lagos State Schedules Corridor Closures for Major Commissioning

The Lagos State Government has announced partial traffic diversions on Wednesday and Thursday to allow for the safe commissioning of key infrastructure projects. On Wednesday, April 8, the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be commissioned between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Traffic in the Opebi-Allen, Ikeja and Ojota corridors will be affected. Motorists are urged to use alternative routes and plan for potential delays. On Thursday, April 9, two events will impact traffic. The Tolu Schools Complex opening in the Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle areas runs from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Later, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., traffic around Eko Hotel and Victoria Island may be slow. LASTMA and other officers will be on duty to manage flow and assist drivers.

This seems like another frequent disruption Lagos motorists face, yet I wonder if all vital roads were considered for smooth traffic flow.

Commissioning new bridges is important, but shoving traffic into narrow detours daytime feels impractical for a city this size.

Check the announced diversion routes in advance, leave earlier than usual, or carpool with neighbors to ease traffic on the detours.
