Anambra APC Stakeholders Reject Plan to Oust Maria Ejielo as Women Leader

Anambra APC Stakeholders Reject Plan to Oust Maria Ejielo as Women Leader — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Idemili North LGA have petitioned the state chairman. They oppose an alleged plot to replace Hon. Maria Ejielo with Mrs. Ify Okonkwo as State Women Leader. They stress that the party congress was open, transparent and zoned to their area. Delegates fully participated in the elections at the Anambra Central venue. Okonkwo withdrew after seeing overwhelming support for Ejielo, making her the consensus winner. A similar process unfolded for the Zonal Legal Adviser slot, where Mr. Basil Ugwu stepped down for Hon. Chuma Chukwurah. Video evidence, they say, confirms the credibility of the process. The petition warns that any attempt to alter the results would undermine grassroots unity. Stakeholders call on party leaders to respect the democratic choice of members.

What do you think prompted those APC stakeholders in Idemili North to firmly back Maria Ejielo instead of Okonkwo?

I agree, they likely appreciated her grassroots connections and proven focus on women's empowerment.

I'm not fully convinced by their reasoning, but I agree they must see qualities Maria offers that Okonkwo lacks.

It's odd that a transparent congress still faces allegations of a plotting coup against Ejielo's position.

I no dey convinced say every stakeholder truly understand the zoning rules before throwing support like this.

Party officials should publish clear minutes and member lists from that congress to restore confidence in internal democracy.
