Pere Urges Nigeria to Deny Tyla Visas Over Xenophobia Concerns
Reality TV star and actor Pere Egbi has called on the Nigeria Immigration Service to deny South African singer Tyla and her team entry visas ahead of her planned December concert in Lagos. He linked the demand to public anger over reported xenophobic attacks and killings involving Nigerians in South Africa. Supporters of the boycott say hosting a major South African artist at this time would be insensitive. Pere disagreed with activist Omoyele Sowore’s opposition to the boycott. He argued that visa denials and public boycotts are necessary immediate responses, while also blaming recurring attacks on broader failures of Nigerian governance.
